The Department of Pathology seeks two full-time Neuuro-pathologists (M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.). The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Professorial level, commensurate with the individual’s qualifications. The successful candidate must be certified in Anatomic Pathology, with subspecialty certification or eligibility in Neuropathology. Responsibilities include participation as an attending physician in surgical and autopsy neuropathology; development of an outstanding investigative or clinical academic program aimed at understanding the pathologenesis of disease at a fundamental level; and the training of medical students, residents, and graduate students. Cancer Biology Program

The Department of Pathology at the Yale University School of Medicine is seeking two applicants (M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or Ph.D.) for full time appointments at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in an interdisciplinary program in Cancer Biology. The Cancer Biology Program has strong ties and collaborative projects with investigators in the Yale Cancer Center and throughout the Yale University community. The successful candidates will be positioned to establish research leadership in areas germane to current concepts of cancer biology, such as epigenetics, cancer stem cells, gene transcription, cell cycle control, cell motility and migration. Other responsibilities will include contributions to Yale's teaching and (if appropriate) its clinical programs.

Appointment to the faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will be at a rank commensurate with accomplishments and experience.

Postdoctoral Position Available

Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology is seeking two (2) postdoctoral associates in the laboratory of Gerald S. Shadel, Ph.D.  Two NIH-funded areas of investigation are currently ongoing aimed at understanding the role of mitochondria in human disease.

Specific Projects Include:

  • Analyzing the role of mtDNA instability and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species in mouse models of intestinal cancer
  • Creation and analysis of transgenic mouse models of heart disease via disruption of mitochondrial gene expression (via manipulation of nuclear genes encoding key mitochondrial transcription factors)
  • Characterization of human mitochondrial transcription complexes and the regulation of mitochondrial gene expression in vitro and in vivo

Postdoctoral Position Available

Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology is seeking one (1) postdoctoral associate in the Computational Laboratory for Immunology and Pathology (CLIP). The successful candidate will develop and apply computational methods/models to disease processes and the immune response in close collaborations with experimentalists.

Specific project areas include, but are not limited to:

• 3D cell migration patterns from in vivo two-photon microscopy
• B-cell population dynamics and memory cell formation
• Time-series labeling experiments
• B-cell somatic hypermutation patterns and genetic lineage trees
• Interplay between the immune system and cancer

Candidates must have strong quantitative abilities, along with a demonstrated interest in applying these skills to problems in immunology in close collaboration with experimental labs. Experience with differential equation or stochastic modeling and simulation, statistical data analysis, nonlinear optimization, data mining, or machine learning is a strong plus.
