What insurers cover Yale Pathology Services?
Click here for our latest list of
managed care health plans with which we participate.
For the initial setup, Courtney Trotta or Frank Mennone will arrange
for you to receive the supplies you require according to your diagnostic
needs, including requisition forms, specimen bags, biopsy containers,
and slide folders. Once you have started using our service, you will
be able to fill out a supply request form and simply give it to your
courier, who will be able to fill your needs within 24 - 48 hours.
What geographic areas does your courier service
cover?
Our daily courier service currently covers the southern Connecticut corridor, from Stamford to New London and north to Middletown. For service outside that region, we can provide a scheduled courier service or provide complete U.S. specimen mailing package including mailing cartons, test kits, specimen bags and containers, and labels for easy mailing to Yale Pathology.
Who are the pathologists associated with each
specialty at Yale?
Please click here for a list of our pathologists,
the programs they are associated with, and their background including
their training and years at Yale Pathology.
How do I contact the pathologist in charge of
my case?
Please call us toll-free at (877) YALE LAB or (203) 785-2788, and you will be transferred to the
pathologist.
As a patient at another hospital, I would like
to have my pathology slides sent to Yale Pathology because I have
an upcoming appointment at Yale-New Haven Medical Center (or I would
like a second opinion). What do I do?
Patients can bring slides themselves during their visit, or have
them sent beforehand to the consult desk located in the Surgical
Pathology Unit:
Surgical Pathology
East Pavilion, 2-631
Yale University School of Medicine,
200 South Frontage Road,
New Haven, CT 06510
Please make sure that the final report accompanies your slides.
Sometimes the institute sending the slides is billable for the consult—at
other times it is the patient's responsibility. Please check with
your hospital to determine if you may be liable for our diagnostic
assessment charge. If so, please provide your name, address, date
of birth, and insurance information.
My diagnostic tests were assessed at Yale Pathology
Services and my doctor (or I) would like my slides sent to another
institution. How do I arrange this?
Contact Mike DeLauro at (203) 737-5720 (or have your
doctor’s office do so) who will arrange for your slides and
final report to be sent. Please give us a week’s advance notice
to assemble your case.
